Pip Rudkin was a key member of Unmanned Systems Canada and its predecessor associations for many years. His contributions to the association were numerous and his efforts tireless. His leadership of the organization as its chairman through the transition / amalgamation between UVS Canada – AUVSI Canada was perhaps the most significant. Above all, Pip was a visionary whose legacy remains with a vibrant and growing association, who will be remembered as a leader, colleague, mentor and friend to so many.
We were all saddened by his passing in March of this year after his long battle with cancer. The Board and Executive Committee of Unmanned Systems Canada have reflected long and hard on Pip’s influence on our organization and have decided that his individual contributions need to be recognized in a formal fashion. To this end, at the upcoming Unmanned Systems Canada conference in Halifax, the USC-STC Individual Achievement Award will be renamed “The Pip Rudkin Individual Achievement Award”. A ceremony recalling Pip’s contributions to USC-STC and the formal renaming of the award will be held at the Conference Gala Dinner in November.
Two documents that pay tribute to Pip are available below.
